The County Clerk's Records Vault contains books, microfilm and digital images of property records and a variety of other documents recorded in our office since the late 1700s.

Property records going back to 1964 can be accessed using our Online Records Search application.
Non-watermarked or certified copies, as well as records prior to 1964, can be obtained by visiting or contacting our Records Vault.
We are continuously working to digitally image and index our entire catalog so that we will be able to allow online access to all of our public records.

Records for marriages occurring in Morris County after 1887 can be obtained either by contacting the municipality where the wedding occurred, the NJ Vital Statistics Office or the NJ Archives. Please use the links below for more information.
The Morris County Clerk’s marriage records include weddings that took place from 1795-1887, however they were actually recorded with our office anywhere from 1795-1919. Our marriage books, in most cases, contain only the names of the bride and groom, where they resided, the date of the wedding, and the names of the officiant and witnesses.
The following marriage index books alternate listing the names of the grooms and the names of the brides on each page. The top of each page shows the letter of the record book where the entries can be found and the dates the book spans. Page numbers are listed on the right side.

Our naturalization records range from 1856 to 1991 and include Declarations of Intention, Petitions for Naturalization and any other supporting documents that were recorded at the time.
Naturalization Certificates are only available through U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. In addition, any records for those naturalized 1992 or later must be obtained through their office. Please visit www.uscis.gov or call 1-800-375-5283 for more information.
If you are looking for evidence of citizenship, a Petition for Naturalization, accompanied by a certification letter from the County Clerk, is sufficient in many cases. Naturalization certification letters are available for a $10.00 fee.

The Morris County Clerk’s Office does not have any birth or death records on file. They can be obtained either by contacting the municipality where the birth or death occurred, the NJ Vital Statistics Office or the NJ Archives. Please use the links below for more information.
Divorce records are maintained by the Superior Court. Anyone interested in obtaining a copy of their Divorce Decree may contact the Superior Court’s Family Division records room at 862-397-5700 ext. 75260. More information can also be found on the New Jersey Courts website.
